House of Sky and Breath by Sarah J. Maas
4.0

House of Sky and Breath is the much anticipated follow up to Sarah J Maas's bestseller, House of Earth and Blood. I was a bit of a latecomer to Sarah J Mass but absolutely adored the first Crescent City book. I couldn't get enough of that book, so after waiting patiently for this one for ages, I dropped everything and dove straight in on release day.

I have to confess though, I didn't love this one. I've see so many positive reviews (and while don't get me wrong it might totally be right for you), I found that I didn't like the direction this one took at all. It was like the author took back all of the things that made the first one great. I know it was planned this way, but to me it felt jarringly different to the first one and the new directions felt forced and disappointing.

I won't put any spoilers (although I am sure by now it's been spoiled everywhere) but that ending just wasn't for me. I actually gasped out loud shouting, 'no she didn't!'. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good book and had some cool plot elements, it just didn't live up to the hype to me. I am not sure if I will read any further.
