The Wire In The Blood by Val McDermid

4.0

Two storylines occurring, so not quite as enthralling as The Mermaids Singing, but still very compelling as Carol flushes out an arsonist and kicks mysogynists' butts and Tony pushes his team of baby profilers to the limit. This novel was the basis for one of the first season episodes of the show "Wire in the Blood" - the show's ending is quite different from the book (book sort of leaves it before there's true closure but Tony and Carol did their jobs and what comes after is up to the lawyers).

So not many spoilers, but in a crime novel you just can't be sure.
