This is a coming-of-age YA-novel featuring Georgia and her wonderful group of friends. Georgia is just starting college and she’s a bit flustered: she’s never kissed anybody and she’s not sure if she even wants to. She should want to, right? With the right person? Right?!

Maybe not. Being aromantic and asexual (short: aro and ace) means to not feel what apparently everyone else is feeling and seeking. I think it’s a safe bet to assume that this part on the queer spectrum is a tad underrepresented in media.

„Don’t do what you don’t feel like doing“ is an important message for adolescents, no matter the orientation. On the aro and ace spectrum it has another twist: what to do and seek instead? Romantic love stories are everywhere and it is assumed that everybody must want them.

I liked these characters a lot! This group of friends is a found family and a lovely bunch of people. I enjoyed the references to pop-culture and I’ve learned a bit about Shakespeare. It’s easy to read, the pacing was fine for me. It’s a language suited for a younger audience (so maybe don’t expect the best writing there is, it is fine, though!) So far I’ve read the graphic novels about Nick and Charlie, this is my first novel by Oseman (and probably not my last).
