This book was kind of a disappointment for me. The premise was good and they had a lot of potential for elaborating on many interesting and less talked about topics but, in my opinion, all we got were some (most of the time racist) ramblings from the main character. Reading a story about the writing and publishing word and it’s faults definitely sounded appealing to me.
The topics of class and money were thrown in the conversation but never elaborated. Too much time was wasted in social media rabbit holes, that could be used for reflection on some topics that seemed rushed.
As the book started reaching its end, it definitely lost its meaning and I had no idea why it was going in the direction it took. It was no longer a book about a problematic and flawed woman trying to desperately achieve her dreams and it became a non sensical and delusional rant about how everyone is against her. It definitely felt like the mc was becoming mentally ill (delusional, paranoid, out of touch with reality, narcissistic, as well as some somewhat implied hallucinations).
The author this one thing right though, you definitely end up hating the mc.
