The Falconer by Elizabeth May
5.0

"Aorm dhuit. I will worship thee."

All I will say is that I love faery men and need the second book now.

Like come now, set in Scotland, has faeries, steampunk, unseelie courts, forbidden love, broken - heroin seeking revenge, and bloodthirsty for the Fae, a beautiful gorgeous gorgeous Fae man with, as Alieana describes, amethyst or lavender spring eyes (yes . . . like Rhysand's. IYKYK), delicious tension, and witty banter? How could I not read and enjoy this?!

The MC was enjoyable. I enjoyed learning her story, her pain, and how she used her trauma to work hard and go for what she wanted. She is strong, and I applaud her for how she was able to keep this professional front as an innocent lady just waiting to get married, while in secret plotting the murder of every faery she sensed. Not only was she strong, but she is absolutely brilliant. She is so smart! The way she was able to build and create machinery, that worked, was so fascinating! I loved learning and reading about all her inventions.

And then we have Kiaran Mckay. Don't know much about him besides that he is a fae and he helps train Aileana and kills his kind. Mystery to be solved. He is so smooth, devious, mysterious, and super powerful (surprise surprise). Am I mad about it? No. I eat up these characters. Don't care how many doppelgangers they have. I love him.

Derrick. You my friend are my favorite!!!! This little pixie is full of sassy attitude and I live for it.

The plot had holes. The fact that Aileana and Kiaran were supposed to beat a thousand faery army on their own, is beyond me. But I don't care, because I entertained and I loved all the characters dearly.

Also, the cliffhanger is illegal. I need the next one ASAP.

Really enjoyed this book, and wish I knew about it sooner! It deserves so much more hype and I can't wait to get my hands on the next two books in the series. Kiaran wait for meeeeee~
