Crazy Rich Asians meets Succession is literally the perfect way to describe this book.
I was hooked from the start! I love when humor and wit is infused into writing, not necessarily in the plot or characters but in the exposition and narration. I was guessing until the end and this was the first time in a long time that a plot twist actually got me.
It lacked a bit of substance, no profound life lessons or extraordinary characters but I wasn’t looking for that from this book anyways. I liked that Jia is a total boss, sometimes a little cringy but it was fun to be in her head.
Overall, this book gave me what I came for: a palate cleanser, fun and easy to read.
