The Most Secret Memory of Men
by Mohamed Mbougar Sarr
This one was tricky for me to rate, because I listened to it rather than reading it. It’s pretty long and there are stories within stories, which, for me, isn’t so easy to follow on audio. I’d say between 3 and 4 would be my rating. I admired the ambition of the author and I was intrigued most of the time, even when I had trouble keeping the characters, locations, and time periods straight. I wouldn’t recommend it as an audio book unless you have very good auditory processing.
The quest in this book reminded me of THE BOOK OF ILLUSIONS but Paul Auster.
