Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All by Allan Gurganus

5.0

I made it about 450 pages before I had to decide whether I wanted to pay library fines until I finished. It might have taken another month, & that's not normal for me. I read pretty fast. This book is incredibly dense. The phrasing is whimsical even though the topics are extremely unhappy. I hope to be able to finish it one day, but I don't know if I can face it. The simple description of the book might be: War is excruciating, & that suffering gets passed down to all dependents. Also: the entitled don't know they're heartless.
