Can see why people refer to this as the grandfather series of modern fantasy. Not as dated as I thought it'd be. First person pov is a great change for me at least, as is having a narrator that does not know everything about the world he lives in, despite trying. Always a fan of books who focus on regular people, not chosen one entities or royalty. Took a while to get used to everything, started to click around 50% in.
