Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
by Ransom Riggs
Overall, this was okay. I had never heard of this book until the movie came out, which I enjoyed. I was gifted this book for my birthday this year, and finally got to reading it this past weekend.
I didn’t hate this, but didn’t love it either.
I found the characters a bit flat, and it bothered me they were stuck, seemingly held prisoner by this head mistress and a time loop. Why was it the day the island was bombed by Nazis? Couldn’t another day or loop be chosen or created? Maybe it gets explained later in the series, but I did not find any connection with the characters or story line to find out.
