Fire Line by Maggie Gates

3.5/5🌶️, MF, CR, small town/western, cowboy MMC, chef FMC, ONS turned working together, enemies to lovers, part of a series, KU

Last book in the Griffith Brother series, for the record I loved the first book and had issues with the second book. This book is somewhere in the middle of the series. Things I enjoyed were the found family aspects, the ex-con, bad girl FMC (though I wish she was even tougher/colder), the outdoor scenes, and the snippets of past characters. This book hinges on a huge enemies to lovers aspect that sets up early in the book, but to me, the hate was unjustified on the MMC’s end. He was hating the FMC because she represented something he didn’t like happening to the land and he took it out on the FMC by being cruel to her personally, instead of taking it up with the people who actually had a hand in the issues. The MMC was also very pushy and presumptive and I didn’t love his character. The flip from hate to love for the MMC was instantaneous and kind of came out of no where. The MMC was also spouting words of wisdom like he was some cowboy yoda, it was a bit too much near the end. So, while I enjoyed this story to a degree, I was still a little disappointed for how much I have loved other books by Gates. The romance and even the creative sex scenes were missing from this one.
