This is a spin-off series about the humans of Renata and how they are adjusting to this alien life. I am so happy we are getting more books in this world, especially since this seems to be focused solely on Renata, unlike the Intersolar Union series.

I was extremely happy to see Siatesh finally get a second chance and find a place where he belongs. Siatesh was a character that I instantly felt sympathy for when he was introduced in Persistence. He has had a rough lot in life but being at Renata and meeting Omi changes everything for him. I loved seeing him slowly open up and let go of his fears around coiling and relationships. I do wish we had got to see his reunion with his family though because I think that would have been a sweet scene.

“I’d had precious few choices in my life… So I chose to trust Omi Shaw.”

Omi is a hairdresser and one of the few humans with an actual business on Renata. While she has made her place in Renate, Omi still struggles with the fact that she will not see her family again, which is why building a chicken coop and catching the alien space chicken is so important for her. I really loved seeing Omi fall for Siatesh, especially since she understood he had trauma and let him set the pace. Also I liked that Siatesh’s tendrils became her muse and brought back the spark to create unique hairstyles for Omi.

Omi and Siatesh’s relationship was a wonderful romance all about healing and rebuilding your life. Their relationship starts as a tentative friendship and quickly grows into more. I loved how observant Omi was of Siatesh and did everything she could to make him more comfortable. She never pushed him and let him set the pace of their friendship and relationship. It was just a beautiful relationship about healing and acceptance.

While there is a lot of trauma in this book, it was still a very low angst book. This was a nice change of pace from the Intersolar Union series because it is usually very suspenseful. Like I said, I really loved these two and can’t wait to read more from this series, especially if we finally see Hunar fall for someone. Also, the photoshoot in this was both beautiful and hot!
