I'm Glad My Mom Died
by Jennette McCurdy
challenging
emotional
funny
reflective
Really well written and hard to take in despite the tone being made lighter by the comedy sprinkled throughout mainly the first half of the book. I think I’ll have that image of the first time she mad herself vomit bouncing around my brain for a while. That scene was too graphic for me, but I understand why she might have included it.
Graphic: Addiction, Cancer, Child abuse, Domestic abuse, Eating disorder, Emotional abuse, Mental illness, Physical abuse, Sexual content, Terminal illness, Toxic relationship, Vomit, Death of parent, Gaslighting
Moderate: Body shaming, Sexual assault, Grief, Medical trauma, Alcohol
