You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight by Kalynn Bayron

2.0

I haven't read "Cinderella Is Dead" or "This Poison Heart", so this was my introduction to Kalynn Bayron's work, and I was unfortunately not the biggest fan of it. I thought that the initial premise was very interesting (a novel about a full-contact horror experience gone wrong sounds cool as fuck), and the first half of this book was actually pretty decent, but the second half completely missed the mark. It felt like an entirely different novel than the one I started, and seemed as if the author ran out of steam and gave up while writing it. I found myself not caring when certain characters were killed and rolling my eyes at the villain monologues toward the end.

But that isn't to say that I didn't enjoy any part of this. This was the first book in a long time that I devoured; I finished it in two days. It was a book that I was always sad to put down when I had to, because I desperately wanted to keep reading it. It's a fast paced and easy slasher to read, so if you're into, maybe, Fear Street then you'll probably love this.
