The Walk by Richard Paul Evans

3.0

After Alan loses his wife, his home, and his business all in the same month, he's ready to end his life, too. Instead, he goes for a walk -- across the entire state of Washington. (The rest of the five-part series will, presumably, take Alan all the way to Key West, Florida.)

I've never been a terribly sentimental person, and most of Richard Paul Evans's books tend toward the romantic and dramatic ... I never can quite connect with this kind of book the way so many other people do. But this is a quick, wholesome read; I will probably keep going with the series.

Also: this book mentions food a LOT. After fighting a pancake craving caused by a certain fictional meal, I gave in and whipped up some of my own for breakfast. And they were tasty.
