In the last book, you get a little inside view of the killer. In this book, you don't know until the end. I like how the author manages to make the books different, but still keep the writing the same also. A little slower pace, I am not disappointed.
A local vet who's had a drinking problem, ends up dead, with a victim of one of his drunkin mishaps being a main suspect.
While dealing with that, there's another murder that pops up, and the normal politics in the work place. Plus, Joanna's friend is trying to adopt a baby and, of course, nothing goes smooth.
I was thrilled to see Butch make an appearance and hope we see more of him.
