Wow, this book was intense. Cilke was a Jewish 16 year old who got sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Where she had to endure the terrible and horrendous and horrific experiences there as well as being raped by an SS officer on an almost daily basis, and after they were free, she was sent to a Gulag in Russia because she was conspiring with the enemy because she was being and they took it to that she did that on her own volition which of course, as we know today is just insane and that she was actually raped. So it is definitely has a lot of trigger warnings. The goulash she went to in Russia. She was also raped and endured hardship and also endured great ability to do work that she fell in love with taking
care of the sick, the old, the elderly, the hurt the pregnant in a hospital in her second prison. This book was intense, sad, emotional, but yet uplifting as she never lost the sense of herself she was definitely ashamed of what she had to do to survive, but she was able to live a long life with the love of her life for over 50 years after she was set for a second time I will take the story of this incredible woman with me and I am very glad that I ended up reading this.
