Elizabeth Is Missing by Emma Healey

I actually expected something a little different. This isn't a mystery story with a dotty granny as detective.
The book gives a very detailed account of the frustrations, confusion, irritation and impatience felt by 82 year old Maud, who suffers from dementia, and her family and friends. The mystery, to me, became a background story. What kept me glued to the pages was the way the book makes you feel all of Maud's emotions; losing the sense of time; struggling to remember the names of every-day objects; mixing up past and present; the horror and shame she experiences in some situations while immediately forgetting why.
