A Bear Called Paddington is an absolutely delightful read!
Coming off of reading some fairly heavy books, Paddington served as a much needed breath of fresh air. I've had the complete collection sitting on my shelf for years following my discovery that the film adaptations are wonderful, and after reading this first story it's easy to see why those films worked so well- much of their charm was lifted directly from this story.
This book is breezy, charming, and filled with surprisingly big laughs.
Lovely light afternoon reading.
My personal highlights were when poor Paddington didn't realise the bath was flooding as he drew pictures on the floor with shaving cream, or when he accidentally destroyed a valuable watch in a magic trick gone array.
Bless this bear!
