This book was such an amazing read. I didn’t have very high expectations in terms of my overall impact from this book, but it completely surprised me. I loved reading this. The characters were very loveable, especially the main characters. The romance was sweet. The whole time the book kept hinting at what broke Macy and Elliot up, and due to the big buildup I was expected to be disappointed. I was not. It was beautifully written and I wouldn’t change a thing. At first I thought that they were simply overreacting, but when it all unravels you understand why it has been so long. I love how the author foreshadows the plot twist with simple things Macy says like “I’m not a fan of cars.” Unexpected but it all adds up in the end. I did cry a little. I also did enjoy the ending. It was beautifully done. There were some aspects I thought were slightly annoying. Macy and Sean’s relationship seemed like nothing but a plot device as a reason for Macy and Elliot to not get together immediately. While it was meant to be boring, it was too boring to actually make an impact in this book. I would have personally preferred more drama, although I liked the love triangle aspect when one interest was so glaring obvious (in other words - Sean is dishwater, Elliot is coke). I also felt like Elliot’s apology at the end was half assed and didn’t really explain anything. His version of events didn’t seem very realistic, but love him anyways. Overall, I would highly recommend for anyone who loves an emotional romance drama.
“I never got to fall out of love. I just had to move on.”
“I haven’t been living without him. I’ve been merely surviving.”
“It never occurred to me that love could be anything other than all-consuming. Even as a child, I knew I never wanted anything less.”
