Bluebird, Bluebird
by Attica Locke
Bluebird, Bluebird is a fast-paced, driven police procedural featuring a Texas ranger and a small town in Texas full of, you guessed it, racists. This sort of story has been done hundreds of times, and nearly the same formula is applied each time. This book sticks with the formula about 90% of the time, providing some alternative twists that make for good reading. Locke is a good writer, and her use of voice and characterization help make this otherwise mundane tale fun and suspenseful. At only 303 pages this serves as a quick read with a well-written, but otherwise heavily treaded plot line.
