This was so much fun!! The story takes some time to get going as it sets up the world but once the pacing picks up, it doesn’t stop. All the mysteries had me hooked, and the inner turmoil faced by both Ayla and Crier as they slowly questioned everything about themselves was delightful. The cherry on top was the ending, where Crier discovers that she isn’t actually “flawed,” but was built just the same as the rest of her kind. An excellent metaphor for queerness imo. So looking forward to reading the sequel after that ending!
