Two things each knocked a star off for me and they’re both kind of spoilers so
When Celie has that weird dream not dream with Pip and Death, did the author just forget that Celie fell asleep in the forest wearing a purple gown with Michal? After a while I pieced together that Michal supposedly carried her back and someone changed her into a nightgown I guess? But that felt like an afterthought
and then
the ending!!! Why did she stab Michal? Couldn’t she have just pushed him through the maelstrom? This whole fight scene was weird imo and the way we got to Michal sacrificing himself felt unnecessary. Ang Ugh, personally I hate when the MC gives up her powers. But I guess I just haven’t learned the lesson Celie learned by the end of the book and I do love a happily ever after so I guess yay, everyone is human again.
other wise I enjoyed it. Although… should it have been labeled teen 👀👀
