Stay with Me by Jennifer L. Armentrout

4.0

I have been wanting to read Stay With Me the moment I finished reading Be With Me. When I got the email with this book attached I was on my lunch break in work, so I had to try very hard to control my excitement until I got home, where I was free to not only download Stay With Me, but also do my happy dance in the process. This review is going to be spoiler free (I hope) with no real answer as to what happens in the end.

Only a few pages into Stay With Me I realised I had done the unthinkable, I had forgotten about Raphael and Michelangelo, I love these guys ❤️

Stay With Me is a great addition to this series, and while I don't think it is my favourite out of them all so far, it still show how amazing J.Lynn is. Stay With Me is packed full of romance, friendships (that are definitely put to the test), and Mafia type gangs. I love how we get to see characters from the previous books make an appearance, and that they play a pivotal role in Stay With Me. There were moments I actually cried over what was happening, moments I could not believe what was happening, and moments like the one below that made me smile.

He read? Oh my God, guys that read were like unicorns. They only existed in fairy tales.

Calla hasn't had an easy life, a tragedy from the past has forced her to be the subject of others joke and snide remarks, making her not only self-concious, but also lacking in confidence. She has gone through so much, and having her Mum take advantage of her is the last straw, forcing her to return to a place she never wanted to go back to, and confront her own flesh and blood.
Jax was an enigma at first, he flirts relentlessly with Calla, but is also unwilling to let her learn too much about him. As their friendship progresses through the story we quickly discover that both of them are hiding their own past, keeping secrets from the other.

Calla and Jax make a unique pair and  really enjoyed seeing these interact with each other. I love how Jax is patient and caring towards Calla, and that he has her back no matter what her attitude is like. Calla soon learns that although her Mum betrayed her trust, that there are still good people out there, and with the help of Jax she soon realises this fact.

Stay With Me was a roller-coaster read, the ups and downs, the wondering of what will happen next make for a real page turner. It is a journey of self discovery, and learning who your friends really are. It's a story of showing that life isn't always sunshine and roses, that there are times you have to fight for what you believe in, and that it is OK to rely on others for support.
