A Touch of Ruin by Scarlett St. Clair

1.0

I’m so sorry, I just didnt know an MC could get worse but she did. Persephone, in this book, has learned absolutely nothing other than how to be even more toxic and spoiled than she was in the previous book. I have no idea what redeeming quality she has to even have Hades love her and want to try sooooo hard to keep her with him. Literally every other character in this book was more enjoyable than her. He constantly jumped to conclusions, caused even more problems (even though people asked her not to do certain things or warned her otherwise), got even more upset that other people weren’t helping her make those problems worse, and then acted like a victim when things didn’t go her way and used her self righteousness as a shield. Every time she was upset with Hades, instead of communicating her issues, she either sent him away or got over it when she decided she wanted to have sex with him. I’m not sure what people see in this series and my only guess is the smut? But the smut is the same recycled scene over and over and it’s not even that good. Sometimes it would just come out of nowhere in the middle of a really important conversation. Also, there’s no content warning, but the ending RANDOM kidnapping and SA attempt that lasted a whole 2 pages was so unnecessary and weird. Like I get that that plot line was hinted at in little snippets throughout the whole book, but to have the major conflicts “resolve” just to throw in a very random and awkward plot point to add drama? Dumb. Also fuck Persephone in this book, she deserves to suffer.
