first reread:

“You belong everywhere you go. That’s just how you are.”

I have a confession to make and I’m not proud of this, but Aristotle and Dante is the book I’ve been calling my favorite book ever since I first read it as a 15 year old in the summer of 2016. If you know me you know how much I adore this book, so I’m ashamed to say this is my first time actually rereading it even though I’ve wanted to so many times over the years.

The story still holds up and manages to make me just as emotional as it did when I first read it. I spent the entirety of the last 100 pages crying and that certainly wasn’t the first time. I feel like even though I have outgrown being the exact same as these characters, seeing all of my emotions reflected in them, it still feels like coming home to these families I love and old memories I cherish.

I think this book makes up so much of what I am and who I am as a reader. Reading it for the first time felt like someone took my very own emotions and put them down on the pages, reading it the second time I feel happy I got to grow up knowing these boys.

I will always love Ari and Dante. <3
