I’m not sure, I haven’t looked, but Lauren Groff writes like she has always lived in Florida, capturing the oddness and humidity and unspoken thoughts of humanity there. She is a masterful writer, the kind that requires careful attention as each sentence is chock full of detail. In Florida I neither hate nor love the characters and feel like I’m observing along with her, without judgement. I loved the Vaster Wilds and this is wonderful as well.
