Triton Vârisi by Anna Banks

God, how I love this series.

After reading and absolutely loving Of Poseidon, I couldn't wait to jump straight into Of Triton. I was a bit worried I wouldn't love it as much as I did the first book, and I guess I did like the first book just a teeny tiny bit more, but overall Of Triton was just as exciting, entertaining, hilarious and swoon-worthy as the previous book. Once again, I found myself frantically turning pages, laughing out loud and staying up late to finish.

Of Triton picks up exactly where the previous volume left off. Immediately, we find ourselves at the heart of a highly dramatic tornado of action and romance. I don't want to go into details here, as I am trying to avoid spoilers, but let's just say that if you loved the first book and if you are dying to find out what happens next, you really won't be disappointed.

Of Triton is just as action packed as Of Poseidon. Things are happening really fast, one minute we have a high speed car chase, the next we're reading about some slimy deep underwater politics, back stabbings and treason. The book is shorter than the previous one, but just as meaty and eventful. Banks' signature humor is at its best. The characters still have this amazing chemistry between them, the sparks are flying, and so are the butterflies. There's a little bit less cheesy romance and flirting, but more high-stake drama and tension.

Emma is, perhaps, a bit tiring in this volume, but who can blame her. She's been through so much - from discovering her Half-Breed-ness to being kidnapped by her own mother, chased across the country by her fish-boyfriend, only to learn that their relationship is in fact completely forbidden. Who wouldn't be just a bit cranky? Who wouldn't express their discontentment? I know I'd be having a whine-fest for sure! So, yes, I totally forgive her for all the complaining and what-ifs. Remarkably, she's still able to joke around and pack a punch with her biting remarks. She's sharp, tougher than before, a bit less clumsy and a whole lot more bad-ass.

Rayna is still the coolest fish in the sea, Toraf is still awesome, Galen's fin got bigger (am I the only pervert thinking weird thoughts in relation to this? Come on, I can't be the only one...) and he took to calling Emma angelfish, which I absolutely adore. Nalia plays a bigger part in the story, though if you want to get to know her and Grom better, I recommend you read the first short story - you'll understand these two a whole lot better.

Overall, I had just as much fun with this book as I did with the first one. This is such a fantastic, exciting, breathtaking, fun, well written series, I am loving every second of every page. The second volume offers a closure that is really quite satisfying. There's no cliffhanger that makes you want to strangle a random passerby, though there's enough wiggle room for a couple new and exciting plot lines to emerge in the third book. I'm definitely excited to see where Anna Banks will take us next. I've no idea what Of Neptune will be about but I sure as hell can't wait to find out!
