Throne of Glass
by Sarah J. Maas
I nearly bailed out in the first quarter. The heroine was moody and quixotic (deadly one minute, snarky in the next, flirty thereafter, then a touch of emo).
I couldn't empathise or identify with her. I had no idea of her background.
But then the plot started taking off and I realised that the character portrayal fitted her age. She's 20 years old after all!
And the lack of background is deliberate.
By the time I got to the end I wanted to read the next book in the series.
It's not high art. It's YA fantasy. But it's a fun rollicking kick ass mystical heroic fantasy. And I enjoyed it!
