Overall I enjoyed this story. There were parts that seemed rushed and others slow which is fine and nothing to be too critical over for a story; however, I really felt that there was so much more to be said about these characters and the how, why, when, meat-and-potatoes of the story that I was left wanting.
I’m not a big fan of insta-love so there’s that to consider in this review and I just felt like there wasn’t enough to explain how they came to love, or even why, other than they just were. The love triangle aspect also was odd and confusing as I was questioning whether or not Torin actually felt romantic love for Elara or platonic, teetering-on-the-verge of romantic love only because of love lost. (Then again.. was it the magic cast by the Elder’s?)
With that being said, I did like the twists and surprises and I always enjoy a happy ending. I’d like reading another installment of this series because I really like the premise and how the plot plays out, and I’d love to read more of the Elders, the kingdoms, the curses/magic, and how it all came to be so I’d hope that the next book will be more in depth.
Overall I would recommend this as a first-in-a-series to pique an interest in an overall delightful romantasy with a lot of potential.
Thank you to Raven More for an ARC of this story & allowing me to be a part of your street team.
