The Ten Thousand Doors of January
by Alix E. Harrow
First of all, I loved this book. Some YA books feel painfully YA which as an adult reading YA it's sometimes challenging to relate to the young characters, but that was not the case here. The writing was beautiful and engaging and made this book impossible to put down. However, the plot had some issues. First of all, there were a few plot holes that left me asking questions. Second, this book feels incomplete. It really does make it seem like this book will involve January exploring these worlds and going through the doors and I was so excited for that part. The book within a book concept was fun, but both books felt incomplete and lacking something. Even at the end when she reached one goal she dashes away for another goal that we, as readers, never see fulfilled. I feel like this book could have been longer or that it needs a sequel.
I still loved this book and it was great, but I need more!
