Grave Peril
by Jim Butcher
These books are always fun...and exhausting. From the very first, Harry is in a pitched battle with pissed off ghosts. By his side is a Fist of God, or a Christian with a sword partly forged with the nails used to crucify Jesus. This book introduces faith-powered magic.
I haven't quite decided if this mystery played fair. The clues are there, sort of. While there are a few ghosts to be fought, this really isn't a ghost story, per se. The story soon turns to Vampires as the main baddies. The story ends with what should be a major turning point in Harry's relationship with the White Council.
There's really not much to be said with these stories. They're fun and fast reads. I was surprised to find that I really enjoy the Urban Fantasy genre (where magic is placed in contemporary cities). If you haven't read any, I'd say start with Storm Front, the first book in this series because this story reintroduces many characters.
