Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

4.5

Whimsical, lush, and incredibly smart, Emily Wilde's Encyclopedia of Faeries is a must read for lovers of fairytales.

A shocking amount of divisiveness on this novel as it focuses on black cat Emily Wilde's quest to write the first encyclopedia of faeries. I found no qualms falling into this story with its lovable cast, glacial backdrop, and well-done epistolary structure. It had just the right balance of academic and imaginative storytelling to keep you enchanted until the end.

Personally I love a identity reveal plot in academic settings, it never fails to get a laugh out of me. All this being said I will be continuing on with the series and look forward to the next installment (which I ignorantly didn't accept when offered the arc, excuse me while I kick myself down a flight of stairs).

4.5/5 stars!
