Why do people write RH series that have like 16 year olds as the MCs? This could have been so much better as an NA. At one point Jessica Sorensen went back to her past book series and rewrote them as more adult (cough smutty cough) versions. This series could use that treatment. The setting would work better if the characters were freshmen in college. The FMC is definition Mary Sue and I had some problems keeping the MMCs straight. There are RHs with about the same number of characters or more and those authors did a much better job differentiating. If you want better characterization in RH, try Liddel’s Power of Five series, Stark’s Dragon Gladiators, or Burkhart’s Vampire Queen series. The paranormal elements in this book play almost no part so don’t commit if that is what you are really looking for. That being said, I enjoyed it. It was the fluffiest read imaginable for an RH/academy novel. I am writing this as I am reading the fourth book in the series. I finished the first two in one night. I am almost embarrassed to admit it because they are not “good” in any traditional sense.
