Animal Farm by George Orwell
5.0

I guess I am a bit late to the party. Often a requirement on American school curriculums, this book is a satirical comedy I missed out on for many years. A critique of the Russian revolution and the rise of Stalinism. It is a fable depicting the dangers of authoritarianism. It is a fairly short book I managed to finish within a few days. I quickly became attached to characters like Boxer, the strong and friendly horse who doesn’t know better but is always willing to put in the work; as well as Clover, a gentle and motherly horse; and Benjamin the donkey, who is always wary of the things going on in the farm but prefers not to speak his mind. This was my first book by George Orwell and I look forward to reading some of his other books such as 1984.
