A filmmaker hired to do a documentary on a long dissolved cult…finds more than he expected…
Last Days by Adam Nevill is a WONDERFUL horror thriller about the power of secrets and magical power in the wrong hands…
I can’t say too much as I don’t want to spoil anything, but the story follows Kyle…a documentary filmmaker with a focus on the occult and bizarre. The Temple of the Last Days is a long defunct cult from the 1970s that he’s hired to research, travelling throughout Europe and Arizona to question ex-members, survivors, and others who encountered them…
Unfortunately as he goes down the rabbit hole of cult lore, he starts to notice odd things…and some of his subjects and associates start to get hurt.
Is there still some remnant of the cult around that doesn’t want their story getting out?
The writing is perfect for detailing the interviews and the narrator’s experiences…emphasizing the creep factor.
The history of the cult (both its old origins and transformations and the lives it ruined) is deeply creative and might kind of creative.
Highly recommended for those who are into the works of HP Lovecraft and Aleister Crowley.
