This is a better book than many people give it credit for.
The plot of Fatal Alliance centers around pretty much all of the important factions in the universe at the time; the Jedi, the sith, the republic, the empire and a Mandalorian and a smuggler. I won't give away too much about the story because it's a very linear adventure surrounding some pretty well fleshed out characters but I really did enjoy the premise. There isn't a great deal to say about the novel so I'd recommend you picking it up to see what you end up thinking about it but it certainly felt star wars-y but more like the prequels so if you can't stand them don't bother. If I had any complaints I'd say the novel didn't flesh out the history of the old republic much which was a bit of a shame.
