In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto
by Michael Pollan
I liked the book, although it was pedantic at times. Pollan's central theme of "Eat Food. Not too much. Mostly Plants." is well presented, articulate, documented and sensible. I was certainly intrigued - though not particularly surprised - by the description of the bending of the FDA and Congress to will of Big Processed Foods, and the extent to which the "Healthy Foods" industry has attempted (successfully) to redefine the game in the name of "nutritionism." Where we live, access to real foods (animal and plant) is sufficiently easy to encourage us to build our diets around it.
