The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin

Fabulous, seriously a new favorite for me.

The tension building, the extremely well done allegories, the intersectional issues of women’s issues. Well done!

I think one of the best things about this book was as I mentioned the allegory. It’s such a cheap shot calling WASPy areas Stepford Wives. But it’s so much deeper than that. Seeing how these women are written so well, and watching the decent into what was historically just tranquilizers given to women who felt trapped in lives where they developed this deep well of longing and depression. 10/10

And it’s short, it’s an easy read and well worth it.
