This book almost would have worked better as a short story but I also can understand why it benefits from being a novel. While the first 90% of the book didn’t really do a lot for me, the last 10% really unsettled me and gave me mental images that will haunt me for some time to come. I don’t know exactly how I feel about this one, honestly, but at least it had a strong ending. I give the ending 5 stars but the rest of the book gets 3. Also the synopsis on the back of the book is so wildly misrepresentative of what this book is like. Just know that you’re in for a story about trauma and alienation that has a shocker of an ending.
