The Witches Are Coming by Lindy West

5.0

I'm starting to love essay collections, and this one only encouraged this. Lindy West has, as I've heard book critics say, her "finger on the pulse" of the political, social, and even environmental and economical situations in the United States. Her thoughts on feminism and the many reactions to it in modern culture were equal parts encouraging to thoughts I've often shared with others who are far less interested in political topics than I am, and also of course many concepts I've never considered, or would never have the necessary experience to be able to understand or be aware of as much as she does and is. Her ability to communicate that experience and, at the same time, make it entertaining and interesting and funny and memorable, is valuable and necessary. Unfortunately, this is another one of those fantastic books on topics that matter, that will not be read, or understood, by anyone who most needs to read it, or understand it. But her words are encouragement and education to those who will listen. Also, she reads the audiobook herself, and this made the audiobook very enjoyable to listen to.
