The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

4.0

Long ago I attempted to read this book, and got lost in Tolkein's many (MANY) words and couldn't get into the story. I recently tried The Hobbit, and found that it was not so difficult to read - and I vowed to give Lord of the Rings another shot.

Well, I devoured this book in a week. I didn't find it hard to read (though it IS wordy in several places), and actually appreciated the many descriptions Tolkein provides of the immense world. The only thing I could do without are the songs, but I at least understand why they are there and appreciate them for that reason.

I'm taking a brief break but I will probably dive into Two Towers later this afternoon. Hopefully it's as fun to read through as Fellowship has been.
