Nick Bantock, a collage artist, creates a book of correspondence between two artists, in the form of letters and postcards. They are psychically linked, but Griffin is depressed and believes that he is making Sabine up. In the end, when she invites him to the South Pacific Islands, he disappears and she has to go to him. Look for that in the next book.
