I've recently heard many booktubers saying their reading experience as an adult was wildly different than what their experience was reading this book as a kid or watching the movies. I haven't read the book (that I can remember) and haven't watched the movie since I was a kid, so I had to try it out.

Absurdity: I still cannot get over how absurd this book is. Barrie writes in a way that you never quite know the rules/boundaries of this universe. This only leads to hilarity! I assumed this would only happen in Neverland, but it's throughout the entire book and I loved it. I never knew what was coming next.

Racism: Unfortunately, the racism in this book is awful, and it gets progressively worse during their time in Neverland.

Peter Pan: Umm, this guy is racist, sexist, narcissistic, a kidnapper, and a serial killer of CHILDREN. He is somehow very innocent and also very sexual?? I was not expecting all this, as the movies portray him as the magical hero. Alsooooo, the descriptions of his baby teeth creeped me out 😅

Tinkerbell: Quite angry, swears a lot, and calls Peter Pan an ass. A bunch of times. He deserved it.
