Indian Horse
by Richard Wagamese
Just finished this book and I am still weeping. To feel this amount of pain and conflicting emotions of Saul from this book I think attests to how vividly and beautifully this was written, and how horrific Canada’s history towards Indigenous people is. This should be a required read for every proud Canadian citizen. I was a bit nervous once it got very hockey-talk heavy, but after a few chapters it was apparent that it was not about hockey, but about navigating spaces when everything and everyone is telling you that you don’t belong. Incredible read.
