Forever Never by Lucy Score
3.0
This is likely a case of “not every book is for every reader,” but this was not my favorite Lucy Score book.
There is a lot to love in this story, including the small-town vibes, a glimpse at Mackinac Island in the off-season, a cast of fabulous characters, and a fascinating representation of synesthesia. However, there is also just a lot to this story — in both page count and plot points.
Perhaps age gap romance is not for me. While the age gap here was not large, we see a heroine repeatedly throwing herself at the hero while the hero repeatedly asserts she is too young for him. That has to be one of my least favorite elements in a romance story. I usually love a girthy Score story as it gives us time to really get to know the characters. However, this one felt too long. A few of Remy’s rejections at Brick’s hands could have been cut out or streamlined.
However, I did enjoy the epilogue and bonus scene.
