The Groomer by Jon Athan

After so many people recommended this book on several social websites, I had to read it. It always came with the recommendation that it is extremely brutal and hardcore due to the subject.

About a third into the book I almost DNF'ed it, but I usually don't. I thought nah.. I always finish books, especially because a lot of times a book ended up surprising me. I found the beginning of the book a bit boring and not that great, also the author stayed away from some details I wish he would've included for the story. There is plenty of torture in the books but he stayed away from the children's. While he clearly states why in the beginning and in the back, and I get it, I feel like, it still should've been a part of the story. Maybe that's just me. Just my opinion, don't come for me lmao

And then the book picked up and I was able to connect with the father. I wasn't able to connect with him or the mother earlier in the book and that bothered me, not sure why. So glad I stuck with it and it ended up being a great book with a perfect ending. I am not to fond of the beginning though.

Great book! I highly recommend it.
