The War to Save the Worlds by Samira Ahmed

3.0

Man I feel super bad for saying I just did not like this book. The pacing was... Weird. Rushed. I feel like almost nothing was explained or fleshed out, ever, the fight scenes were ridiculous and essentially didn't happen.. Like how did they defeat some gigantic evil being by like... Tricking it into falling? Come on. Maybe this was intended for a younger audience and that's why I didn't like it but then I think of the colloquialisms used and it definitely seems like it's intended for teenagers.

Bonus points for:
- cultural representation
- semi accurate portrayal of sibling relationships. Maybe.
- talking about Rumi, that was kinda cool
- the 4 times science was mentioned???
- creative descriptions of the djinn (kinda?)
