This book fulfilled my expectations and was even better, because it gave me funny anecdotes and examples about the English, but most importantly and surpringly from an random second-hand shop find, this book is written very well. Kate Fox has humour - like a true English person, as I have learned - and takes the reader along by explaining the structure, her thoughts and by giving conclusions per chapter. I have been reading this book next to writing my thesis, and I have actually been inspiring on how to write from this book. Another fun aspect is that I went to Wales for fieldwork and have observed with my own eyes and ears how the pub talk amongs regulars and the barman goes. You can't make it up. Nicknames like Ratty and Tea bag. Thanks to this book, I will never forget it!
