A Summer to Die by Lois Lowry

MPSRC - Book written in the 70's
I listened to this book b/c I remembered reading it as a kid. I listened to the audio book this time, and the narration was done well. Specific scenes stuck with me over the years, and when I heard them they lit up in my mind. I had only a vague recollection of the story as a whole, but as it unfolded it was familiar. For such a short book, LL did a fantastic job developing characters. I connected with Meg from the beginning, and felt her feelings the whole book through. Despite the heavy subject matter, I found the book overall to be more happy and hopeful than sad. I'm not sure what age reader the book is meant for, but LL does an excellent job of writing a relatable book about the very difficult topic of what it's like for an adolescent to deal with death and grieving.
